How it works
MeshCore uses LoRa radio to move packets between devices.
Messages can travel through intermediate nodes to reach stations
beyond the sender's direct radio range.
The radio network itself does not require cellular coverage,
a SIM card or a permanent internet connection.
Companion nodes
A Companion is a user-facing MeshCore node. It can connect
to a smartphone or another controller over Bluetooth and
is used for sending and receiving messages.
Repeater
A Repeater is an autonomous MeshCore relay. It receives packets
and forwards them through the network, extending radio coverage
and improving mesh connectivity.
Room Server
A Room Server acts as a simple message server inside the mesh.
Users can connect to it through MeshCore and exchange messages
without relying on internet infrastructure.
MeshCore in Narva Mesh
In our system MeshCore operates alongside Meshtastic.
A dedicated gateway receives messages from one LoRa network
and transfers them to the other.
This allows Meshtastic and MeshCore to become parts of the
same Narva Mesh infrastructure.

- off-grid text messaging;
- hiking and expeditions;
- volunteer coordination;
- backup communications;
- emergency and crisis communications;
- distributed LoRa networks without central infrastructure.
MeshCore and Meshtastic
MeshCore and Meshtastic both use LoRa, but they are different
network protocols and their nodes cannot communicate directly.
Narva Mesh solves this with our MeshCore ↔ Meshtastic gateway,
which transfers messages between the two networks and also
forwards information to the central server.
Hardware
The MeshCore network uses compatible LoRa devices.
For use in Estonia, choose hardware supporting the
EU 868 MHz band.

Important: before purchasing, check that the
specific model is supported by MeshCore and choose the
868 MHz / EU 868 version.
Installing MeshCore
MeshCore firmware can be installed directly from a web browser
using the official MeshCore Web Flasher.
After installation, configure the device for the
EU 868 MHz band and use the local Narva MeshCore
network settings published on this page.
